About Royal Oak Civic Foundation

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation provides a central place for people, foundations, and businesses to support the city and, as a 501(c)(3), enables a deduction on their tax return to the extent allowed by the IRS.

The Foundation is a domestic nonprofit corporation – a formal 501(c)(3) and will raise funds through annual giving, planned giving, major gifts, grants, and special events. Your donation supports city entities that receive little or no tax-base funding and groundbreaking community projects that improve the quality of life in our city.

Established by the commission in 2018, the Foundation established its first board of trustees in 2019. Trustees are expected to provide resources to the organization. They make personal and annual contributions, provide professional services, and solicit contributions.

The Foundation is a Michigan corporation whose sole Member is the city of Royal Oak, as represented by the city commission. The commission appoints trustees to the board, and the city holds the foundation’s funds and provides minimal staffing. Otherwise, Royal Oak Civic Foundation is completely self-governed with its own bylaws, financial record keeping, and tax returns.

Your donation helps support Royal Oak civic entities, which receive very little or no tax-base funding, and groundbreaking community projects that improve the quality of life in our city. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
