Thanks to everyone who participated at Arts, Beats & Eats on 5th Charity Preview 2023! We are delighted to announce a great success as more than 250 guests attended. A very special thanks goes out to Jill Martin for her assistance with many last-minute details. Also, thanks to Jon Witz and Shannon Wojtas, as well as our ABE affiliates for their incredible work in helping us create this annual tradition.

The event’s success is a testament to our combined resources and passion for the great city of Royal Oak. Let’s celebrate together this significant step in growing our new organization’s public presence and fundraising abilities, where all proceeds go directly to Royal Oak civic entities that receive little or no tax-based funding.

Every year, many people make personal donations to the civic programs they love, like the library, animal shelter, and parks. The Royal Oak Civic Foundation provides a central place for you to donate and, as a 501(c)(3), enables a deduction on your tax return to the extent allowed by the IRS. We exist as a channel for residents, businesses, and corporations to make impactful philanthropic contributions.

The Royal Oak Civic Foundation is a formal 501(c)(3) non-profit that works to improve the city of Royal Oak's health, safety, and cultural opportunities by inspiring the philanthropy of residents and business leaders to support a thriving, resilient community. The foundation can respond quickly to matters concerning Royal Oak, and we can apply for grants with deadlines and requirements that the city government may be unable to meet.

In addition to grants from other foundations, we accept individual and corporate donations and bequests. Your donations are tax-deductible, and giving opportunities include Community Benefit Fund, Royal Oak Animal Shelter, Arts Commission, Historical Commission, Nature Society, Public Safety, Public Library, City Parks, and the City's Senior Center.

Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS, and it supports civic entities that receive little or no tax-base funding. In addition, it also supports groundbreaking community projects that improve the quality of life in the city of Royal Oak.

In its second year, Arts, Beats & Eats on 5th will confirm what the first year’s event forecast: it’s the premiere event of the season; a charity preview of all that the annual Labor Day weekend Arts Beats and Eats festival has to offer.

From 5:30 to 6:30 Royal Oak civic and business leaders meet and greet the guests of event sponsors and holders of VIP tickets. (You might also be surprised to encounter county, state and federal leaders, all of whom are invited.) The festivities continue from 6:30 to 8:30 with the strolling dinner, craft cocktails, entertainment and exclusive shopping with festival artisans.

The party happens under summer skies on Fifth Street in Royal Oak, between Washington and Center Streets. In case of rain, the fun will not abate; it will move into the adjacent Fifth Avenue nightclub.

Sponsors of the event enjoy dedicated seating, marketing recognition, and VIP ticket packages. Individuals can choose VIP tickets or general admission tickets.

This year we’ve offered six local charities the opportunity to sell event tickets and keep the profits. They are Blessings in a Backpack, Metro Detroit Youth Clubs, Outreach on 7th, Royal Oak Football Club, the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce scholarship committee, and Stagecrafters.

Arts Beats & Eats on 5th event will run from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

For the first hour, sponsors’ guests and $100 ticket holders will attend a VIP reception with civic and business leaders. Holders of $50 tickets enter at 6:30 pm on August 22nd, 2024.
